Editor's Take
The September issue is a solid mid-size Indian architecture publication with a clear commercial readership. The strongest feature is the Landscape Special, which genuinely addresses the Indian context — terrace and balcony landscaping in particular is a relevant topic rarely covered in Western architecture magazines. The cover feature on Gala and Gosalias is respectful but avoids critical questions about succession planning in family practices. The weakest section is the Special Features block, where four of the five entries are branded content from product manufacturers — Aludecor, EngineerPly and Turquoise are advertorials presented as editorial. The Schueco Series is also branded. This is for Indian architecture practitioners and students who need project case studies and product information, not for critical design discourse.
Strengths
• Landscape Special addresses Indian-specific urban and residential green design
• Strong project variety from MVRDV to small Ahmedabad studios
• Cover feature provides genuine intergenerational practice insight
Weaknesses
• Four of five Special Features are branded advertorials from manufacturers
• Schueco Series is editorial in name only — effectively a sponsored content slot
Verdict: Selective read — Indian practitioners will find useful project references; critical design readers should look elsewhere for independent editorial voice.
